The prices below apply to name development in Norway and the Nordic region, as well as international markets. The prices include preparatory work, a thorough name brief, development and presentation of 8-10 name suggestions, preliminary testing and checks for identical trademarks.
We have also developed various product modules that cover name development and trademark legal guidance in the form of «In Name Mode» and «From Idea to Trademark». See below.
Developing names for businesses, products, and concepts largely involves navigating a world of trademark law, understanding which names work well as future brands and can be registered, including in domain registries. NameAbrand AS bases the development of strategic names on a thorough naming brief that contains information about the objective, market, and future goals. Based on the naming brief, the customer is presented with between 8 and 10 name suggestions, all of which have been pre-tested, assessed by a trademark lawyer, and checked for identical names in relevant trademark classes. The process takes 3-5 weeks, depending on the number of markets and trademark classes. The suggestions are presented in a dedicated meeting with the customer.
Price depends on scope/number of markets.

It can be a good and constructive internal exercise to develop a future name for a company, product, or concept together. However, because the name is the brand element that most often tells the market who you are and what you do, there are a number of important prerequisites that must be in place before the name can be developed. To get into good naming mode, NameAbrand goes through the entire process in advance, with sufficient guidance on how you can proceed yourself. Through a half-day workshop with management and employees, NameAbrand contributes to a greater understanding of which elements are important in a naming process, help to get started on your own, and general guidance regarding the future registration of the name as a trademark and other relevant registrations.

The objective is to conduct a complete name development process together with the client. The process aims to arrive at a good, strategic name for the company, product, or concept that can serve as a future brand name. In addition, NameAbrand will deliver 8–10 proprietary names. The process serves several purposes; a greater understanding of the importance of strategic name development, team building, stronger ownership of the final name, and a better understanding of trademark legal issues and opportunities. The name should contribute to greater future value enhancement for the company. The evaluation of the name proposals takes place in a plenary session.
The name development process includes two half-day workshops with management/employees; an initial one and one midway through the process. At the end of the name development process, the working group selects up to three name suggestions which are checked against identical and confusingly similar names in relevant trademark classes and markets.
NB! Expenses for applications for trademark registration and any preliminary investigation at the Patent Office are not included.
*Preliminary examination by the Patent Office: NameAbrand will, during its name development process, already have investigated whether any identical names exist in the trademark register. However, a preliminary examination will reveal whether other trademarks exist that are so similar as to cause confusion – in other words, not identical names, but names that bear a resemblance to the proposed names.
The preliminary examination in Norway can be conducted within 3-5 days, and the price is NOK 1,800 per mark for up to three classes of goods and services. This will be invoiced separately.
